Dual Language Immersion Program - Spanish

Partial Immersion or Dual Immersion structures are considered cost neutral once they get started. It is simply a staffing change, but not a budget change. Instead of investing in materials in English, Spanish educational materials are substituted.

We seek Spanish teachers with a superior or professional level expertise in the target language. If a local certified and properly endorsed teacher through the state of Arizona is available, they can be hired.

No. Students are with an English teacher for approximately half of the day and the other half of the day is with the Spanish teacher.    

The program follows the Arizona State Standards for College and Career Readiness. The Spanish teachers utilize the ACTFL standards. In Math, both teachers use the McGraw Hill curriculum. HMH is the ELA curriculum used in English and the Spanish sections use Listos. 

Learners are acquiring two languages and will see more work then the traditional classrooms.  

No, the rigor of the program provides a path to learning two languages while ensuring that Arizona State Standards are covered in English.  

The program has a maximum of 25 students per section.

The program is a first come, first serve enrollment. Open enrollment is accepted.  

Transportation is only provided for a student within the approved HUSD San Tan Elementary  School boundaries.
